A Smart Grid for Intelligent Energy Use: The Smart Grid involves the use of communications and computing technology to transmit and distribute energy more efficiently. This video describes the smart grid and how it will reduce our carbon footprint through energy efficiency and the integration of renewable sources of energy. Featuring interviews recorded at the IEEE Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles: Accelerating Innovation Conference (2007) and the IEEE Energy 2030 Conference (2008). Produced by IEEE and ScienCentral, Inc., with funding from IEEE Power & Energy Society, IEEE-USA, and the IEEE New Technology Directions Committee (NTDC). 8 minutes running time. Smart Grid technology will transform the way energy is distributed and consumed in the future. It will ensure both reliability and efficiency. The Smart Grid also has the capability to optimize renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and nuclear power. Transformer company, Pacific Crest Transformers has more on the smart system and its role in the energy grid. Visit their website

Captain Kirk: Scotty we need more power.
Scotty: Im giving her all she’s got captain

Maintain the grid you got and get out of the way: GE, ABB, Alstom, etc. . .
Energy Aggregation/Storage and distributed generation on local private grids — cut the wire to the utility (unless you want to see it to them and help them out by using their excess power at night)

When the oil was uncovered and l' è automobile be constructed, gives to the horses to motor shoes that in order to maintain while still alive l' industry? When become the è radius a way in order to communicate t, has installed them near the telegraph and a post office them to support that the infrastructures legacy? At the end of the years ' 80, when the PC become è was in the room with Miniums (VAX), mainframe (IBM, Univac), etc to make infrastructure use such? When u to have WIFI, perché to continue to TCP/IP connected via cable? The distributed generation è here.

i thought it was 30% for coal energy plants? i just saw a pie chart two days ago

@gamesmaster35 For sure. But its not about whats good for people its about whats good for the corporations that can make money off this technology. Prior to this it would have been difficult to make money off something like this. Think of it that way.

@Corvyn Okay I agree the initial cost of setting up infrastructure would be high. But to not have to depend on foreign sources for most of your power would eventually pay for itself. Think of all the money used in research and development to find new oil sources. The laying down of pipes and the expense of oil dikes and dirges. Not to mention maintaining those things. And last but not least not having to worry about shortages every 30 years or so would be nice.

I dont really seem to understand how smart grid work? Can someone explain it to me in a simpler term?

@ Jb21uk Sì, but solar had this problem when I was to elementary school. Not for me same date, but Reagan was president when I was to elementary school. What succeeded è was seated on they soccer for last the 20 years in pià ¹? What I have read in the book of scientific spreading of that time was that già had a solar battery in works that would save excess the power and to use it of night and when they have been cloudy sky. I own do not understand perché slow the è progress sometimes così.

ELECTRICITY ‘created the entire universe. ELECTRICITY ‘never ends in space because ELECTRICITY’ CREATES THE UNIVERSE CYCLE. In this case, nothing ever polluted if electricity is created in which everything he does. Global warming is false.

Perché to install a solar paddle, that it supplies intermittent energy, could not in realtà to reduce the capacità of generation of base necessary to all. The fluctuations of power also to make the grill unstable and subject to black-out. Regular necessary à the noise generation, rendering l' I use of variable energy. Cià ² means to make l' imposition of an car electrical worker, or using a unità ac, pià ¹ beloved for the pauses economic breviums and pià ¹ for the summits short.

Well, its being implemented here in cali full speed. A month ago they cut off power to our neighboorhood to install the box or device on the poles. Now today there installing the “smart meters”. My assumption of this is ultimatly its not going to benifit the customer but rather just make it easier to “be more in touch” with the customer if you know what i mean. This is yet another invasion of what privacy we have left. Im pretty sure in the coming years they will be pushing for “smart “appliance

After reading the comments below, I wonder if we should waist the money and the vast resources we are all pitting into this great endeavor. I would love to go back twenty five years ago when we were laying out the framework for the Internet to see what all of these idiots would have said.

Shining. to leave that the control of governments and to control how much energy the Deadbeats and sanguisughe use. After all, bills subsidize them OURS!

crazyassrider491,
How about a Bear or a Lion to help you figure it out!?
Better yet, a 1,000 Degree C hot iron rod up your arse would do wonder!! >=P

World leaders are stressing on the importance of renewable energy in various sectors. . . With the rise in greenhouse gas emissions, the renewable energy sector like wind power is gaining popularity. Smart Grid technology will help wind, solar, geothermal, and hydropower gain momentum. . . Companies like Pacific Crest Transformers provide energy-efficient transformers and work in the direction of Smart Grid technology. Visit the website for more.

GREAT idea. . . My utility bills are high enough paying for them
June 24th, 2010 at 6:55 am
they can afford this if they withdraw the troops

Actually, I am already doing this at my cottage. It is not that difficult. Costyl though.
